I don’t usually splurge on hotel stays but I like to indulge myself once in a while when an opportunity presents itself.
Such an opportunity came when I was flying back to Singapore from Penang with another scheduled flight to Seoul the next morning. I arrived at Changi Airport at 7pm and I needed to be back at the airport the next morning by 6am.
Rather than making a trip back home and then heading back out to Changi Airport, I decided to save my sanity and time by booking a room at Crowne Plaza Hotel, which was connected to the airport.
Now, I’ve got to say that Changi Airport is one of my favourite places to be at in Singapore. Not just as a traveller but as a visitor as well. The airport has plenty of shops to keep one entertained even if you are not flying off. So it is definitely a bonus to have the opportunity to also stay within the premise of the airport too.
Fortunately, we had an awesome room at the hotel with a great view of the runaway. I can tell you it is such a unique experience (or maybe it’s just me) to fall asleep to the sound of planes landing and taking off. The sound is not too loud that it is annoying but you can definitely hear it from the room premises. To me, it was the best music to fall asleep to.
Of course, the room and service that I got deserves its own mention. I don’t usually stay in luxurious hotels such as Crowne Plaza so to have the luxury of such smooth and wonderful service certainly adds to the experience. The service did not waver even when we informed them we were locals for a short stay. We got smiles and attentiveness wherever we went around the hotel.
What I especially love about the room was the subtlety of the design. Cupboards and drawers were cleverly hidden that keeps it clean and uncluttered, yet you still get the luxurious feel of the whole room.
Now, there are regrets about my stay at the hotel. My biggest regret ever, was that I did not get to try the pool. Everyone around me knows that I’m a water baby. Give me a tub, a pool, a beach and I can lie there happy. How can I get to such a luxurious hotel and NOT try out the pool?? I was NOT happy at all. π₯ Till today, it still haunts me that I did not get to try the pool, not even to dip my toes in it.
However, time was just not on my side. We checked in around 7pm and had to check out by 6am the next morning. There was no time for me to even get down to the pool floor.
But it’s ok. Someday, I shall get to stay at the hotel yet again and I will make sure I get to spend a little bit more time for me to enjoy being in an actual hotel for once.
My stay at this hotel left me with such a good impression during that short period that I’m happy to share it with everyone. Room was paid in full by me though and this is my own personal experience staying at the hotel.
How about you? Have you ever felt strongly about a particular hotel that you have stayed in before? Please do share! 😄
Looks beautiful. We are planning a family trip to Singapore next year. Looking forward to exploring a new part of the world.

That pool certainly looks amazing and it is always great to treat yourself once and awhile. My husband and I stayed at a 5 star hotel in Canada. We attended a wedding that was held there [the one where my husband sang] and because we were wedding guests, we got a discount.

Nice! Good to stay at such hotels occasionally to get a good perspective of that end. Not all the time though..haha..π

Yes, it certainly is. Plus, I would have cost us a lot of money to take a taxi back to where we were staying.

The Crowne Plaza looks really good. Very nice idea to stay at the hotel for the night instead of going home. A hotel that definitely left an impression to me was The Chedi Andermatt where I stayed at my birthday last year. You may wanna read about it here: http://traveluxblog.com/2014/08/26/the-modern-retreat-in-the-alps/

We were just at Changi this week! I have only stayed in one hotel that was connected to an airport. It was the Chicago O’Hare Hilton and it was so overpriced (normally $350 a night, but we got it for $150), but it was so nice to be able to hop on our flight well rested and non-stressed!

That is a steal to get it for that price, crowne plaza was a bit costly but to me, it was well worth the convenience of the location and I got to enjoy good service even if it’s only for a short period. π

just got home from Singapore where I stayed half a night because Jetstar had a 10 hour delay. They put us up in the city – 30-40 minutes away. Really nice hotel, awesome buffet but would have rather stayed here at the airport!

Ahh, not cool about delays but at least you got to spend some time in Singapore! Which hotel did you stay in? Pretty good of Jetstar to put you up in a hotel for the delay. π
