Being Positive and Changing Expectations for 2015

So, when I wrote about loving 2015, there was a lot that I was looking forward to for 2015. I was focused on travelling and sharing my travel tips and stories. Writing this now, it is a sad realisation to say that I am still writing about my Perth trip back in October which was almost a year ago!

In fact, I have written and re-written this post multiple times. Each draft that I had written reflected my mood at the point of writing – there was one full of bitterness, one with much tiredness, another full of rantings. I didn’t post any of these ones.

Life is not fair sometimes and you feel that everything and anything could have happened to you. In fact, I claim responsibility for some of these myself. Negativity drowns you in despair. Yet, it very much depends on your perspective. There are definitely many others with much worse stories than mine. Mine just happens to be a matter of timing.

I decided to count my blessings instead.

Work is unstable and chaotic at this point of time but I am still employed and have means of financially supporting myself.

My finances have been draining these last few months due to necessary circumstances. I shall be grateful that I am still able to live comfortably even though I have had to adjust my lifestyle slightly. I quite like the idea of minimalist living now.

I was not able to travel overseas these last few months. My last trip was in February. I shall look forward to my trip to Europe in November instead as it seems to be my only trip planned for this year. Of course, I also became a tourist in my own country instead, exploring a few other tourist spots. πŸ™‚

So I’m changing my expectations for 2015.

If there is another opportunity for travel, so it shall be. Otherwise, I’ve already had plenty of changes and excitement these last few months and I do not expect this to be any different by the end of 2015.

All I can do is embrace these changes.

Bring it on. πŸ˜‰

  2. Things happened along the way and changes are often needed, so no worries about that! Are you visiting the Netherlands as well in November? I may have to go to Indonesia in November but if you do and our schedule meets, you can count on me as your guide πŸ˜‰

      • Haha, yeah! I’m finding that out too late, unfortunately! Haha…I will probably have to go on an extremely budget trip instead. I had bought the air tickets at the beginning of the year when there was a promotion and before all these cropped up…😫 shall make the most of my time there instead..😎😊

  4. Aww, I’m sorry 2015 hasn’t been exactly what you hoped for, but life is like that, isn’t it? Gotta flow with the ups and downs, don’t we, and accept what is handed to us. Counting your blessings is a great way to stay positive, and hey, Europe in November sounds pretty great to me! πŸ™‚ Where are you going?

  5. YES to this post. I’ve been so burnt out with blogging and working full time, that I’m still writing about trips that I went on nearly a year ago too! And I’m writing a lot less at the moment. Change isn’t always bad, just unexpected. Very much looking forward to more posts about your home country! πŸ™‚
